JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time

Based on an item at Comics Continuum, Aquaman may be in the new direct to DVD JLA animated movie.
"After crafting a monumentally over-the-top plan to take over the world by expanding the polar ice caps, mastermind Lex Luthor is missing and widely presumed dead. One thousand years later, Luthor is discovered and memorialized in the Legion of Super Heroes' museum, where the teenage super hero, Karate Kid, accidentally releases him. The museum contains both the knowledge of Superman's secret identity and a way to time travel, in the form of the mysterious Time Trapper. Once Lex Luthor is free, he quickly sets out on a mission to permanently erase Superman from the time stream.

"For the Justice League -- Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman -- along with Robin and teen super heroes Karate Kid and Dawnstar, the stakes have never been higher. Facing the deadliest rescue mission to date, the future lies in the hands of the Justice League as it struggles to confront its most critical challenge: the threat of having never existed!"

JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time is directed by Giancarlo Volpe from a script by Michael Ryan. The film features the voices of Diedrich Bader (Batman), Peter Jessop (Superman), Jason Spisak (Flash), Grey DeLisle Griffin (Wonder Woman), Dante Basco (Karate Kid), Laura Bailey (Dawnstar), Corey Burton (Time Trapper), Kevin Michael Richardson (Black Manta, Solomon Grundy), Fred Tatasciore (Lex Luthor), Travis Willingham (Gorilla Grodd), Avery Kidd Waddell (Cyborg), Liam O'Brien (Aquaman), Thomas Gibis (Toyman), Erica Luttrell (Cheetah), Michael Donovan (Bizarro) and Jack DeSena (Robin).

Justice League Movie that almost was...

A bunch of pictures of a bunch of actors are making the rounds, with the note that the group was in pre-production on a Justice League movie before it was scrapped at the last minute. Thanks to Bleeding Cool, here's an apparent source of the images, though they were originally taken from Facebook and the IMDB.

A guy named Santiago Cabrera was set to play Aquaman. He's the one with the beard.

DC Universe Rebooting in August

It's all over the 'net now. The DC Universe is rebooting in August, starting with Justice League of America. DC is apparently going to spit on years of history and start renumbering Action and Detective, as they've said there will be 52 new first issues. Fortunately for Aquaman fans, our hero will be in Justice League and have his own book, both written by Geoff Johns.

Aqualinks

You may have heard about the Aquaman movie rumor. Because of previous experiences, I'll believe it when it's actually out and available.

Michael May has been grading Aquaman's appearances in the Justice League of America in order to figure out when Aquaman got his reputation for being useless. Here's Part One, Part Two, Part Three, Part Four, and Part Five.

And Polite Scott rips apart a Golden Age Aquaman Tale for its medical maladies. Politely. Be sure to read the comments, as they also rip it up nicely...

Aqua-Links

Aquaman is mentioned in Evil Inc (thanks for the report, Joe):

Evil Inc

Aquaman himself appeared in the strip last year bringing a glass of water to his child. Heh.

Justice League Movie gets a director. I still haven't heard confirmation that Aquaman will be in it.

If you want to get an MP3 of "Crank Dat Aquaman", there's at least one version available on SoundClick. Warning: NSFW lyrics. I've started searching the site for other Aquaman songs, but haven't found much worth listening to.

Ah, sunken cities, that's right up my alley! In some ways, this story reminds me of Adventure #223, in which a sunken city is found that isn't a city... just looks like it.

JLA Classified #26

Aquaman in JLA Classified

Nice use of the Waterbearer Aquaman, presumably this fits in just after Veitch's run and before he changed back into his old costume. He was at loose ends during that time, so JLA activity is probably a good fit. (SPOILER)I think his comments on not messing with nations fit Arthur as King, as he'd hardly want the Justice League to interfere with Atlantis when he ruled it.(END SPOILER) A nice little set-up story. Go read it.

Aquaman and Tempest Removed from JLA #1 Cover

It wasn't just my imagination. Both of them got booted in favor of other characters, but they aren't the only ones...

Aquaman Spin-Off?

I don't like spreading completely unfounded rumors, but this one has enough sources to accept as more than the garden variety rumor.

The ratings for Aquaman's appearance on Smallville were very good, leading to speculation that Aquaman was in the works for his own spin-off. As it turns out, the rumors are true. An Aquaman spin-off is in the works. Whether or not the spin-off will ever make it to the screen is a different question, though, as at any given time there are thousands of projects in the works.

Adding fuel to the fire is the report that the producers of Justice League Unlimited were told not to use Aquaman this season. That's standard business when a project is in the works, and does not mean that the project will ever get made.

As an added note, this project has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the storyline on Entourage, and HBO show
