Aquappearances for early Jul 2025

I didn't find any Aquappearances in any DC book for the week of 2 Jul 2025.

Aquaman #7 was released on 9 Jul 2025, so that was a big week for Aqua-fans. This issue had four variant covers and continues Aquaman's quest to find his family and people.

Aquaman also appears in Superman Treasury 2025: Hero for All. He has a very small speaking role (Grade 3).

I haven't found any Aquappearances for 16 Jul 2025, though.

Looking forward to next week's books, there's a couple of possibilities - including Justice League Unlimited and the New History of the DC Universe. But we'll have to wait and see.

Aquappearances for 25 Jun 2025

I found two Aquappearances in the DC Comics shipment for the week of 25 Jun 2025.

The only internal Aquappearance was in Justice League Unlimited #8, where both Aquaman and Black Manta make a number of appearances, including speaking parts Grade 3:

Aquaman and Manta in battle

Aquaman also appears on the cover of The New History of the DC Universe. He's on the main cover and at least one of the variants.

Looking forward to next week's books, there's not obvious signs of an Aquappearance, although Aquaman and Mera have appeared in the Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong 2 book, so that's a possibility.

Aquappearances for 18 Jun 2025

I found one Aquappearance in the DC Comics shipment for the week of 18 Jun 2025.

The only Aquappearance was in Zatanna #5, in a couple of panels Grade 5:

Aquaman stands forlornly in the background of some sad scene.

Next week we can look forward to Justice League Unlimited, which has at least a cover appearance of Aquaman. The New History of the DC Universe might also be of interest to Aqua-fans.

BREAKING NEWS

In other news, there was a screw up with the fascimile edition of Adventure Comics #210, and the fifth page of the Aquaman story, "The First Undersea Newspaper", in that book was accidentally replaced with the fifth page of the Green Arrow story, "The Defeat of Green Arrow". This has led DC to reprint the book, and it'll be a bit of a loss for them. Bleeding Cool News has a very good summary of the other issues with the book - the misprint was just one problem (the short version: DC tried to do a promotion that went over like a lead balloon).

Aquappearances for 11 Jun 2025

I found one Aquappearance in the DC Comics shipment for the week of 11 Jun 2025. If you found more, please leave a comment.

The only Aquappearance was in, you guessed it, Aquaman #6. This issue had four variant covers, including a George Perez postcard variant. The story of Aquaman's quest to find his family and people continues, and another person is added to the cast.

Aquappearances for 4 June 2025

I found three Aquappearances in the DC Comics shipment for the week of 4 June 2025. If you found more, please leave a comment.

Black Manta appears in Justice League: The Atom Project #6, in what I'd call a Grade 3 sighting.

Aquaman and Manta both make Grade 5 appearances in Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong 2 #1.

Aquaman is almost mentioned in Teen Titans Go #4 (that would be a Grade 6):

There is also an indistinct Aqua-character in DC Pride 2025 #1, although I'm not certain who it is. So I'd probably give it a Grade 6 and leave it at that.

Next week Aquaman #6 will come out, so we can look forward to that. There are no other obvious Aquaman-related books coming out next week... if I'm wrong, let me know!

Aquappearances for May 28 2025

I found one Aquappearance in the DC Comics shipment for the week of 28 May 2025. If you found more, please leave a comment.

Black Manta appears in Justice League Unlimited #7, in what I'd call a Grade 4 sighting. Aquaman also appears in a single panel.

Looking forward to next week, DC Pride may feature Jackson, but otherwise there's no clear indication of Aquaman in any books.

Aquappearances for May 21 2025

I found two (plus) Aquappearances in the DC Comics shipment for the week of 21 May 2025. If you found more, please leave a comment.

A very minor appearance of Black Manta (Grade 5) was in Batman/Superman: World's Finest #39:

An image of Black Manta.

Atlantis and Atlantean tech are mentioned (Grade 6) in Titans #23 as items being stolen by Orca (who is not an Aqua-character, technically). That's the "plus" appearance.

The main appearance this week is Aquaman himself (Grade 4), showing up in Superman Unlimited #1:

Looking to next week, there's no specifically Aqua-related book on the list, but Aquaman might appear in Justice League Unlimited #7, which is a continuation of the story from this week's Batman/Superman: World's Finest, "We Are Yesterday," which involves both the Justice League and the Legion of Doom, and Black Manta is on the main cover.

Aquappearances for May 14 2025

I found one (plus) Aquappearance in the DC Comics shipment for the week of 14 May 2025. If you found more, please leave a comment.

The only actual Aquappearance was in, you guessed it, Aquaman #5. This issue had four variant covers, including one that's a Superman/Aquaman mash-up. The story of Aquaman's quest to find his family and people continues in this one, which has the funniest title I've seen on a comic story in a long time.
*(Yeeaaah! Aahhh! Oh God! Oh God It's Eating My--! Ahhhh! is the actual title!)

Aquaman #5 cover by John TimmsAquaman #5 cover by Marcio TakaraAquaman #5 cover by Elizabeth TorqueAquaman #5 cover by Mario FoccilloAquaman #5 cover by Daniele Di Nicuolo

Aquaman sort of made appearances in two other comics this week. In DC vs Vampires: World War V #9, Aquaman is part of the plot and is mentioned, but doesn't make an actual appearance. There is action in Atlantis, as well. So, yeah, it probably qualifies. Atlantis is also mentioned in Fire and Ice: When Hell Freezes Over #2, but it is not in the context of Aquaman.

Hey, another post! What a surprise! Eh, maybe I'll keep it up. Who knows. I doubt anyone is reading after so many years of silence.

Aquappearances for 7 May 2025

I found two Aquappearances in the DC Comics shipment for the week of 7 May 2025. If you found more, please leave a comment.

First up, in Justice League: The Atom Project #5, Black Manta makes a tiny appearance (Grade 5), visual only:

A small image of Black Manta standing next to Bizarro and Grodd.

And in the original graphic novel, DC's Misfits of Magic, Aquaman makes an excellent and very funny cameo appearance (Grade 3):

A small image of Aquaman saying 'Anyone?! Any kind of explanation at all?'

I know it's been years since I updated, but maybe I'll start posting again. Who knows.

Aquaman in DC Universe Online

If you aren't much of a gamer, you probably don't know about DC Universe Online, which is celebrating it's 6th anniversary. This Multi-player roleplaying game is set in a DC universe in which millions of normal people were infected with "exobytes" by Lex Luthor, giving them superpowers, in order to fight off an invasion by Brainiac.

I was told Aquaman didn't appear much in the game, but I've been playing it for a few months, and he's made a few interesting showings. The big one people who play as heroes see the most is a leveling mission in which your character and Martian Manhunter look for the reason Atlantis is invading the surface world.

A suspiciously non-Mera-like Mera and Aquaman face off against heroes in DC Universe Online.

It ends with a confrontation with Aquaman and Mera - or is it Mera? - in which you must first battle Aquaman, then battle the real threat.

The game also has a summer event that usually last a few weeks to a month in which you assist Aquaman in battling the forces of Ocean Master, who are invading Metropolis.

Aquaman is also available as a vendor in the Watchtower, selling gear. The game has gear-based progression, so having him as one of the vendors is natural. Many other heroes also appear as vendors.

The game is "free-to-play" in the sense that you can create a character and level it up quite a ways without needing to buy membership or downloadable content (DLCs), but there are heavy limitations on free players. However, all Aquaman content that I've seen so far is available to free players - although the summer event is only available for a time in the summer.

The game can be played on Playstation (3 & 4), XBox, and PC.
