Comic Geek Speak

Comic Geek Speak does an error-filled Aquaman episode, which was apparently researched on Wikipedia without checking the references. Some idiot added "Crown Point, IN" to Aquaman's origin for no apparent reason, and these guys actually included that! Yay for Wikipedia vandals that get into a podcast by supposed comic book experts. Sheesh.

For the record, the origin statement is this:
The story must start with my father, a famous undersea explorer — if I spoke his name, you would recognize it. My mother died when I was a baby, and he turned to his work of solving the ocean's secrets. His greatest discovery was an ancient city, in the depths where no other diver had ever penetrated. My father believed it was the lost kingdom of Atlantis. He made himself a water-tight home in one of the palaces and lived there, studying the records and devices of the race's marvelous wisdom. From the books and records, he learned ways of teaching me to live under the ocean, drawing oxygen from the water and using all the power of the sea to make me wonderfully strong and swift. By training and a hundred scientific secrets, I became what you see — a human being who lives and thrives under the water.
Still if you want to listen to three guys who haven't got a clue talking about Aquaman for over an hour, this is the podcast for you.

For the record - we're upfront that we're not experts, just comic fans, and we wanted an excuse to talk about Aquaman since people may be reading him for the first time in Brightest Day. Did we get things wrong? Sure! But that's what our forum is for - for our listeners to join in the larger conversation. We're not an info dump site, we're a conversational podcast. And it was because of this episode that people are now seeking out back issues, creators have created new Aquaman images, etc. And only about 2% of my notes come from Wikipedia. The rest comes from the comics, articles and even sites - like yours which we referenced in the show (I'll be sure to omit that reference after your glowing review). You don't need to like it, but any Aquaman talk is good talk if it excites people to research more.

And yes - we have more than a clue when it comes to Aquaman. I've read quite alot over the years and decided to talk openly about the character to engage conversation. By the way - I tried to contact you to get an "expert" onto the show but your site is useless in that regard.

Cheers!

So, only 2% of your notes came from Wikipedia, but you still quoted something completely false that was easily verifiable just by looking at the history of the Wikipedia article itself. That's poor research. Period.

There are plenty of ways to contact me, you just did the main one here. And there are other ways as well. I removed easy access to my contact information years ago after getting harassed and stalked. Rob at the Aquaman Shrine had no problem contacting me at all. Strange, that, isn't it?

Touchy, aren't you? Do you plan on editing me out, or are you just going to trash me in some later podcast because I dared to correct you?
